Questions that I am commonly asked about Vancouver, travel, my beauty routine, and where to buy all my essentials. Although I love getting DMs, I thought it may be a useful resource to do a round-up of FAQs just in case some of you are too shy to ask. Of course, I am always happy to elaborate further, and if it didn’t make the list, feel free to send me a message. I am always happy to help, as long as you aren’t trying to get me to join your multi-level marketing business. Where in Vancouver, BC is this swing? Believe it or not, I get this question at least…

Fall Capsule Wardrobe
Summer is my jam. I love sundresses and shorts and maxi dresses; I have way too much clothes for the three to four-month stint that I get once a year. Fall on the other hand is not exactly my preferred season to dress for. I have a love/hate relationship with it. I love all the pretty colours of the changing season, I love hot coffee on a crisp day and knitted sweaters, but I grimace the first day I have to slither back into my jeans after a long summer of sunkissed skin and short shorts. There is more layering involved and fall clothes are more function than fashion. It…

Summer Sales-August 2019
It is that time of the year again, there are sales everywhere! I thought I would try something new and put together a few of my favourite items that are on sale right now! Some of the sales are only for the weekend so act fast! Abercrombie & Fitch Abercrombie & Fitch is one of my go-tos for jeans and they have some really great style for under $50. I also love their cashmere t-shirts which are usually $100 and right now are on sale for $44. American Eagle American Eagle has 20% off this weekend. I stumbled across this really cute button up dress which is a steal for…

Wedding Guest Looks
It is wedding season. This year we only have one wedding to attend but I have quite a few friends who recently got engaged so I have a feeling that next year is going to be a busy one. I really struggle with wedding guest looks because usually, the “it colour” of the season ends up being the colour of most bridesmaid dresses. It is also an event that is heavily photographed, so choosing a dress that is timeless yet trendy can be difficult to navigate. AND of course the most important rule, avoid white and anything that may photograph as white; steer clear of grey, silver, really pale pinks, you don’t…

Figure Flattering Jeans for Fall
Best Jeans for Fall by jaemiesures featuring high-waisted jeans The worst feeling in the world is putting on jeans for the first time after summer. This year was no exception. As I get older comfort is my number one priority when it comes to my clothing choices. These are my top choices of flattering jeans to wear during the fall season. Levi’s High Waist Wedgie Jeans These jeans are the perfect mix of comfort and structure. I love the high waist and the button fly. Mine are a slightly darker wash so they look great with booties and a cropped blouse or sweater. These look good on women with a butt…

Letting Go of Fast Fashion
I have really been trying to stay goal oriented for the new year. I went to a spin class today, had a salad for dinner yesterday and I accidentally ordered a new jacket over lunch….oops…in my defence it was on sale! Anyhow, it is very tempting to sink back into the old habits and feel the societal pressure to ‘keep up with the Jones’. Fast Fashion is something that I want to avoid for the new year. Fast fashion items are mass produced clothing that are cheaply made using cheap materials. They do not last and their production not only contributes to polluting the environment, but it also has a short…

Fall Fashion for the Work Day and the Weekend
Fall Fashion 2016 by jaemiesures featuring a shoulder bag backpack I was living in denial but I finally gave in and embraced the fall weather. I was hoping that if I continued to ignore the change in the weather perhaps it would help to delay the process. Although I am not crazy about the rain, I am excited for a few of the trends that I have seen in the stores. Last year I was obsessed with sweaters, and this year I can’t get enough of the bell sleeve. These are a few items that I picked up as my must haves for the fall season. Bell sleeves are a trend…

Sweater Weather
Sweater Weather by jaemiesures featuring long sleeve sweaters The weather has been so wet and soggy, sweaters are really the only thing that offer comfort this time of year. Finding the right figure flattering sweater is a challenge, over-sized can look sloppy and chunky knit tends to be just completely unflattering. An additional challenge, is investing in items that are appropriate for the workplace and cute for the weekends as well. I have searched far and wide and found a few styles that I think are versatile and stylish. Cropped Pullover I love cropped sweaters to wear to work with high-waist skirts and trousers. The are feminine and…

Outfits for the Holidays
Holiday Outfits by jaemiesures featuring snowflake christmas ornaments New Years, Christmas parties, family gatherings, there are so many special occasions this time of year to dress up for. Each one requiring a slightly different look. Choosing the right outfit for the right occasion can be a toss-up especially if you are in unfamiliar territory. These are my recommendations for dressing the various events over the holiday season: Work Party Depending on the company, work parties can be hard to dress for. Some companies throw formal gathering and some companies tend to be low key. As boring as it is, the little black dress is perfect for a corporate gathering.…

Ugly Sweater Season! The Sweaters You Shouldn’t Live Without
It is officially Christmas time, you know what that means? Ugly Sweater season! Okay, maybe that is not exactly what comes to mind, but Ugly Sweater Parties are what comes to mind, when I think of Christmas events. Hipsters have taken over the ugly sweater market, and it is no longer possible to score any gems at the local Salvation Army. I have spotted a few beauties around town. I wish I had multiple ugly sweater parties so I could wear them all.. Walmart has surprisingly embraced the ugly sweater, I am amazed at how many different styles and patterns they are offering for the Christmas season. My own personal…
