End of Year Check In

As a quick end of the year check in, I read through my blog post that I posted for my goals for 2015. It is a little bit cringe worthy, I hope my writing style has evolved considerably since that post.

I can’t believe there is only a few weeks left in 2015. The years after 25, seem to be considerably more stressful; I am constantly counting down the days until 30. It doesn’t help that growing up, I had pictured my life differently, and now with only a little over two years out from turning 30, having children is still something I would like to keep on the back burner. Looking back on my New Year’s Resolutions for 2015, I have a mixed feelings. I felt I set some attainable goals for the New Year, but somehow I only half completed them.

Getting into Group Fitness

My first resolution was to find a group activity and make fitness more social. This is something I am failing miserable at. I actually put my gym pass on hold and signed up for Classpass. I liked the idea of having some variety, but it is really hard to build a routine and it is ultimately pretty stressful because the good classes go quickly and there is such a huge database that it takes a long time to weed through them. Making fitness a priority is still a resolution that I would like to keep for 2016.

Letting Go

Letting go is something that I will still continue to struggle with. Now that my daily commute has been switch to transit, I am actually more hostile. Skytrain etiquette is the worst! People are always shoving and pushing and completely unaware of their surroundings. I actually miss being in the comfort of my own car and having the flexibility of knowing I can get to where I want to go on my own schedule. I think I will remove this one off my list for 2016, if I emphasize on fitness, I think I can get my aggression out that way.

Spending More Time With Family

My next resolution was to make my family a priority. I am starting to feel guilty now because I do not do this at all. My sister and I will text memes to each other once or twice a week, but I can’t remember the last time I had a chance to pick up the phone. I have been so busy with work, I have actually ignored my mother’s calls completely! She has the worst timing, she always calls me when I am working an event for work. This is something that I need to make a priority, especially with a new puppy at home. Sorry, I had to include an image of the little guy, who is no longer even close to being this small now.

Keeping the Travel Bug Alive

Finally, a check mark I can add to the list. I had the most amazing adventures in South East Asia. As you probably already know, given that I have written numerous blog posts about my trip in the travel section of my blog. Travel is very important to me; life is too short to not explore more of the world. I don’t think 2016 will allow for an extended getaway, but I will plan for some mini adventures. Perhaps a quick trip to Mexico, or if I am lucky, South America, or Croatia.

Read a Book

I am so happy that in the original post, I stated to read a book, not read more books, because I have officially read one book in its entirety for 2015. It was an amazing book, Where’s You go Bernadettewhich I highly recommend. I carried it with me all throughout South East Asia. I enjoyed it so much, that when I got back I was determined to find a good book to read. Still searching, if you have any recommendations let me know.

Although I am scoring a 2/5 on my New Year’s Resolutions for 2015, things could be worse. I had so many wonderful experiences in 2015, and I feel I am constantly evolving as a person, so my goals are shifting. I have set other targets for myself throughout the year, that I have successfully attained.  One of them being to spend more time working on my blog. I am really looking forward to setting new goals for 2016, I would like to actively try to achieve them.
