The Okanagan will always feel like my home. Even though I spent the majority of my childhood growing up in Ontario, it only took a couple years for the Westcoast to feel more like home. I have always had jobs where I spend the majority of my time indoors so on my weekends snowfall or sunshine I like to head outdoors. There are quite a few options in the Okanagan area to check out. Since my family and I lived in Kelowna for many years, I spent a lot of my time exploring the hiking paths around the area. It wasn’t until I moved away from Kelowna that I felt like I missed out exploring all the other areas of the Okanagan that we were once my next door neighbour. This list are all the spots that have been good to me over the years.
Myra Canyon Trestles
Time of year to visit: Spring/Fall/Summer
Duration: 2- 3 hours, can always turn around
Location:4675 June Springs Road, Kelowna BC
This one is a good one for a leisurely hike. It is about a twenty to thirty minute drive out of town and a portion of the drive is on a dirt road. The views are amazing. I find it a bit boring, since for the most part it is a flat path. I usually take my bike up there and bike along the path; this way you can cover more ground.
