Reppin’ the One- Piece

My Okanagan heart lives for the beach. I love water-sports, kayaking, paddle-boarding, you name it. There is nothing better than being out on the water on a hot summer day. Being a fairly busty and curvaceous girl, swimsuits have always been a struggle for me. I usually have to buy separates, and search for bathing suits that come in bra sizes. This summer one-pieces were in full force. These are not your grandmother’s bathing suits; cut-outs, plunging necklines, loud patterns, this is a trend that I can totally get into. One-pieces allow the right amount of coverage for me. Perfect for a water expedition, and comfortable to walk around in with a pair of shorts. The only downfall, trying to go to the bathroom in a one-piece.

Picking Favorites

For me, the right one-piece has to have the right amount of support for my girls. I don’t want to have a wardrobe malfunction. I have found that the best cuts for me are ones that lace up in the back or have adjustable straps.

Wildfox has a lot of fun styles, that still look youthful. I love the cut and fit of them. The lace up back allows the suit to fit as tight or as loose as I would like,it holds everything in nicely and is enough support for my chest. I love the open back style, so there is still some skin showing.

A couple months ago, I saw Mindy Kaling wearing the cutest one-piece made by Mara Hofffman. I decided right away I needed to have it, until I saw that it is $500. Sorry Mara, too pricey for my budget. A month later I saw Beyonce was wearing the same suit, in a different colour. It looked just as amazing on her. I was still thinking about it a month later, so I set up a notification on ShopStyle to let me know when it goes on sale. The second it went on sale, I had to have it. I never do this, but I took a chance and ordered it online without trying it on. I am in love with it. It has just the right amount of coverage, the fabric is nice and thick and it is very figure flattering. I get compliments on it all the time. I love the loud print, it helps to distracts from any imperfections. Even though it is more than I usually spend on a swimsuit, I have no buyer’s remorse here. This suit has become my summer staple.

Some other honorable mentions, Mara Hoffman also makes a lace up one piece in a few different colour ways and fun prints. The suit is reversible, which is an added bonus. L*Space makes very cute, fashionable and comfortable one-pieces. They do tend to fit on the small side, I find they don;t have as much coverage and support for busty girls. Asos is a good website to find lots of different and trendy styles. They are based in the UK and have free shipping. I ordered my Mara Hoffman suit off of their site. They do not have reviews, so I usually search the brand and read a couple reviews on other sites before ordering online. That way I have a good idea of sizing and fit.
