Summer has totally snuck up on me. I was busy all winter and then I left for Europe and there was no looking back. Fitness definitely got put on the back burner. Now that I am back summer is in full swing and my beach body….well…isn’t. Music festivals are just around the corner and I know that there will be no time then to make it a priority.
I have still been active but not as active as I would like. I used to gym 5 – 6 times a week and now I am lucky if I get a gym session in three times a week. I have been feeling super sluggish and exhausted all the time so I think I should step up my game in the health and fitness department. Especially since I don’t feel as comfortable in a bathing suit as I used to feel.
A few years back I got into cross-fit, which emphasizes the Paleo diet. At the time I was mostly looking for a way to improve my fitness level, but everything I learned from the cross-fit gym has helped me evolved my fitness goals. The Paleo diet is all about keeping blood sugar levels stable. Grains or any other food with a high glycemic index usually spike blood sugar levels and lead to crashing after. Cross-fit taught me to eat smarter. I only ate sweet potato or yams post workout, and one days I didn’t exercise, I would stick with protein and vegetables. I have since got lazy and my energy levels are a perfect example of this, so Paleo eating starts up again today!
Paleo Shopping List
Paleo emphasizes cutting all the processed foods out of your diet. I find that the farmers market is the best place to get all my groceries for the week. Wish me luck on my journey. For the times I can’t make it to the gym sometimes I try to sneak in an at-home workout.
