No Make-Up Look

I have been trying to ditch the makeup, purely out of laziness.

Like most people, working from home has created an endless routine of sports bras, messy buns, and no makeup. When I have to leave the house, I really have to push myself to get ready. I hate the feeling of removing mascara from my eyelashes at the end of the day or looking in the mirror, only to discover that crusty crumbs of my mascara are now dusting my undereyes. Determining which occassions garner a prepped face was becoming very challening. I decided that a scaled back, low maintenance routine was needed. Don’t get me wrong, I love to look good, but I also hate to get ready. These tips involve no make up what-so-ever! I have cut down my daily routine by making some big changes.

Lash Extensions

I tried my best with all the serums that 17-year-old tik tokkers were shoving down my throat, but at the end of the day, those girls are liars, nothing came close to the look of wearing mascara. I caved and decided to get lash extensions from Pure Luxe Beauty Bar. I stick to something pretty close to my lash length and get a hybrid. I find that it’s the closest to what my natural lashes look like.

Finessing My Skincare Routine

Taking a break from make-up has really helped my skin. I used to get small whiteheads on my cheeks and I really struggled with blackheads on my nose. The 2% liquid exfoliate from Paula’s Choice has been a game-changer for my skin. I get so many compliments on how smooth my skin is. One my of fave hacks for blackheads involves using the Paula’s Choice exfoliant. Once a week, I use an oil cleanser, followed by the liquid exfoliate on my nose. I then put the Aztec Mask mixed with apple cider vinegar on my nose and let it dry. Once I remove it, it clears up any blackheads I may have had. I find it works way better than using pore strips.

I also mix a few drops of sunless tanner into my moisturizer to help give me a natural glow. I really like Tan Luxe, I have tried other brands but I like the scent and the coverage of Tan Luxe. To see more of my skincare faves, I have linked them here.

Shaving My Face

I have hyped dermaplanning for a while, I think it has become more mainstream now. I try to do this at least once a week. It has really improved the appearance of my skin and stops it from looking dull.

Lip Blushing

My mom used to tell me that if you don’t have time to put on make-up, the least you can do is put on a little bit of lip stick. Lip blushing has been my game changer. I am terrible at lip liner, and I have a phantom upper lip, so lip blushing gives me a defined look with minimal effort and it lasts up to four years. Now I just try to keep my lips adequately moisturized.

I got my lips done at Beauty Corner, I thought the healing process was going to be rough but it was actually pretty seamless. My lips are now naturally tinted and perfectly lined 24/7. I don’t know why this trend didn’t take off like microblading.

Whiten Your Teeth

I religiously whiten my teeth, as an avid coffee drinker, it’s really important to me to keep my teeth pearly white. I recently discovered Fairywell Whitening Strips and they are quite a bit more affordable than Crest White strips. I don’t use them all at once, I usually just do maintenance when I see some discolouration.

Breaking Up With Make-Up

Although I will try to wear blush and powder on occasion, I have really cut back. My weekly self-care time has increased, however, my daily routine is drastically less. The one thing I have really liked about spending more time at home, is that I have been able to have more time for self-care. I love that I feel way more comfortable in my skin now.

My next step is to try and cut down my hairstyling routine. I think I am halfway there with heatless curls. I will keep you posted. Let me know in the comments if you have some good make-up-free tips.
