Places to Watch the FIFA World Cup in Vancouver, BC

Never, ever would I say that I am a soccer/football fan. It wasn’t until the first Canada game that I was bit by the bug. Since I am a casual sports fan, I am not about to wait in a long line to go anywhere. It took me a while to figure out the best viewing spots in Vancouver. My criteria is probably different than mosts, I am all about the energy and whenever possible since most of the matches are during the day I would prefer to do outside.

Bars & Restaurants

  • Good Co, Granville St: I tried to make a reservation here and unfortunately it is booked up until July 8th, so if you want to go, you need to wait in line. The vibes are good and they have large screens.
  • Earls or Yaletown Brewing in Yaletown: there is an outdoor patio, which is my preferred viewing (who wants to be inside in the summer) and if its full the
  • Batch by BC Place: unless outdoor viewing area, right off the seawall, it is a little bit out of the hustle and bustle but still has a very enthusiastic audience.
  • 33 Acres: its giving sports bar in the most casual way, it is not as wild as downtown but still a nice spot especially if you wanted to go as a family to watch the game.
  • Parallel 49: the food here is top tier and their patio is spacious, so it makes it a perfect spot to watch the game.

Designated Zones

  • South Flats: since it is very conveniently located in my neighborhood, it is a good options for a viewing spot and admission is free.
  • PNE Fan Zone: a bit more of a trek for me but the newly opened outdoor ampathreatre is stunning.

Honourable Mentions

  • Granville St, although there is no to watch the game (no outdoor screen, missed opportunity if you ask me).
  • Beer Garden by Science World, again no screens but is a good spot to hang out before the games start.

Have you found some good places to watch the game? I would love your suggestions, because it feels like it is only the beginning, this will be going on until mid-July and there are so many places I have left to check out and explore.
