The hardest part of working out for me, is actually getting to the gym. Once I am there, I am usually ready to go. Some days I am just famished when I get off work or I don’t get a good enough sleep the night before and I really can’t push myself to go into the gym. This is when I turn to at home workouts. It is an easy convenient way to get some exercise in.
I have discovered many different websites for workouts. I am partial to videos, because I tend to want to follow along with the video, rather than work through a prescribed workout on my own. Working out at home is easy, I have a few free weights at home, a yoga mat and some resistance bands. Sometimes a gym membership is not in your budget, or young children make it hard to slip away, whatever the reason may be, there are so many online resources that are free and helpful to stay fit in the comfort of your own home.
This is one of my preferred website for exercise videos. I have attached one of my favorite 30 minute videos above. They have everything from yoga videos, to tabata training to crossfit workouts. Some workouts are twenty minute, and some workouts are seven minutes. It all depends on what you amount of time you can allot for in your day. I subscribe to them on YouTube, so I get new notifications of the workouts to try.
The BodyRock website, has recipes and fitness challenges. I love it because the workouts are hard, and they are usually only 12 minutes. I really feel like I am working. They do, however, require a fair bit of equipment which I don’t have at home. I do try to be creative or stick with the body weight workouts. I have attached one below, which is the perfect 12 minute workout, if you are in a hurry and you just want to get your heart racing.
My hairdresser, was a firm believer in cardio until the started doing Bender fitness videos. She told me she finally go to see results. All her workout usually suggest that you do a small component of cardio, usually a twenty minute run. I usually repeat the workouts as I can until exhaustion. She also includes health tips on her website as well.
The BeFit YouTube channel, has a nice mix of everything. There are Jillian Michaels workouts, strength training, yoga and dance workouts. A nice variety of everything. It is also good if you know a certain muscle group that you want to work on.
Grokker is a website that caters to at home workouts. The usually require little to no equipment. I had to register for the page, but there is no charge involved. I don’t mind subscribing because I like receiving the workouts as a reminder that I should be active.
Tone it up has quite a few free workout, they do ask that you pay if you want to subscribe to the program. Since I go to the gym and just do at home workouts when I am in a hurry, I don’t feel the need to pay for the service. The workouts are usually short, so I choose to do more than one exercise. These girls not only have good workouts, but they inspire me to stay active. Their bodies are amazing.
I hope this helps kick-start you to be active. I try to start off slow when I am trying to get in the swing of things. I will do ten minutes in the morning before I shower, and then slowly start to pencil in more time for workouts. I have hundreds of workouts pinned on my Pinterest if you would like more ideas. Enjoy getting your sweat on!
